A Letter to My Daughters

To My Daughters...

As I sit here looking back on the past 40+ years of my life, I am overwhelmed with joy for what I have in you, my daughters.  You are, by far, my greatest accomplishments in life. I am so grateful, yet saddened, at how you have grown and how quickly life passes by.  I want to share with you some things I have learned along the way and hope you will find meaning and purpose for what lies ahead in your life.

My first piece of advice is to always stay close in your walk with God.  I have watched you grow as  Christians, and sometimes face truly challenging times.  In this crazy ride called "life", He is your one true constant, your Rock. Life will bring you trials and people will let you down, but our God never will!

Secondly, I hope you become strong, successful, independent women.  Be happy with who you are - I know I am!  Your dad and I have told you before, but we want you to be able to take care of yourselves, for you never know what lies ahead.

Thirdly, Love each other!  Family, especially sisters, are a precious gift.  You will grow and have families or your own someday, but always keep your sister close!

Next, enjoy life!  Make memories! Whether it is traveling or experiencing something new and adventurous, have fun! Take pictures, and lots of them.  Your family will appreciate it someday...

Lastly, I have prayed for your future husbands since you were babies.  I know He will give you that man when He sees fit.  Until then, keep a few things in mind... First and foremost, make sure he is your best friend! Make sure he makes you laugh, makes you want to be a better person, tells you how beautiful you are, and accepts and loves you just as you are.  They say a girl often marries a man like her father - I hope you are that blessed!  It has been said that "a daughter needs a dad to be the standard against which she will judge all men"... you have that dad.  Your dad is my best friend and I am more "in love" with him today than I was on the day we married over 23 years ago...I pray you have that love.

I hope you take each thing I have said and apply it to your lives, whether it be today or in the years ahead...Life is short- enjoy it and make a difference!

I love you with all that I am,

Mom
